Solving child poverty in Belgium together: that is the noble goal of the Pelicano Foundation. That in our own country - where life is on the whole very good - children have to grow up in poverty, breaks my mother's heart. That is why Back2Front makes a monthly donation to Pelicano to fight child poverty in Belgium.
Pelicano is a relatively young foundation that has been fighting child poverty in Belgium since 2008. To this end, Pelicano relies on donations, support from companies, gifts, wills and nominative funds. With this income, the foundation provides underprivileged children with the basic needs. In the first place, these are meals and clothing, but the donations are also used to buy school supplies for the children. Furthermore, the money is used to pay for doctor's visits and membership fees for youth movements or sports clubs.
Pelicanokind
Every 'Pelicano child' can count on sustainable support. This means that the foundation follows the child until he or she gets a diploma and is ready to play his or her role in society. During this process Pelicano works closely together with recognised care partners. This can be the school, but also the OCMW or the Social Service. These parties ensure that the financial support goes directly to the child.

This way of working was the decisive factor for me to choose Pelicano as a permanent charity of Back2Front. I know that our monthly donations will reach their destination and effectively make a difference for the future of several Pelicano children. Every child should grow up without (money) worries and even the smallest donations can help.
